Physics & Astronomy Students
About us
We are a community of students from the Physics and Astronomy department dedicated to fostering a welcoming community for all Physics and Astronomy Students.
Jobs, Research and Career Opportunities
This is a year-round, non-paid, hands-on learning opportunity that helps students build skills and experience around their field of interest.
Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education
ORISE connects students, recent graduates, postdocs, and faculty to STEM internships connected to facilities managed by the DOE.
Entry Level | Full-time
This opening involves the planning, execution, and oversight over experiments centered around OMEGA laser-matter research. Research is centered around the following fields: laser-plasma interactions, hydrodynamics, radiation transport, implosion physics, material strength, and nuclear physics.
Internship | Full-time
Participation in these projects will include collaborating on research and development projects, analyzing results, and presenting said work. These investigations will focus on the following areas: applied physics, condensed matter physics, high energy density physics, and plasma & fusion energy science.
Scholarship
This is awarded to several undergraduate members of SPS in order to uplift the study of physics. These $2,500-$6,000 scholarships are only delegated to junior standing physics and astronomy students.
Scholarship
The top applicant from the SPS Leadership Scholarship will receive $6,000 and is awarded on the basis of academic achievement and leadership. Awardees must be undergraduate SPS members of at least junior standing.

See what we're up to!
